Stephen Chikazaza’s music can be described as a joyful-spirited expression that draws from abundant genres. The Zimbabwean born singer-songwriter grew up singing in church and performing at community events. During his teenage years he found himself in a vocal quartet, which sparked his love for harmony and songwriting. A spell in the USA added a depth to his sound, while immersed in the gospel scene, nurtured by veteran artists and musicians. The Sydney-based Artist released his soulful debut album 'Familiar People' in 2019. In collaboration with Australian producer Joel Woolf (Hollow States), the warm and welcoming record merges his earthy voice and poetic songwriting with arrangements evocative of classic soul, jazz, African folk and gospel records. The self-released album pays homage to friends and loved one’s while marking the beginning of Chikazaza’s journey as an Artist.
